Nasal drops are the sterile, aqueous solution which are used to instill in the nose cavity. They are made isotonic with the body fluid. Mainly they are used to treat allergy caused by bacteria they act by restoring moisture to the dry air passages. saline solution, causes the blood vessels in the nose to contract and dilutes mucus and reduces swelling in the sinus area.
Sodium chloride is used to produce sputum from the mouth and help in improving lung functions whereas benzalkonium chloride is used as a preservative to kill many bacteria.

Mechanism of Action
Sodium Chloride
Intranasal sodium chloride or saline solution is a purified salt solution used for providing moisture to the passages. and helps dissolve and loosen thick mucus. It is especially useful for decongestion passages.
Benzalkonium Chloride
Benzalkonium Chloride is primarily used as a preservative and antimicrobial agent, and secondarily used as a surfactant. It acts as a bactericidal and bacteriostatic action. It is used in antibacterial hand wipes, antiseptic creams and anti-itch ointments.
In cosmetics, it is mostly used in personal care products like rash cream, facial lotion, cleanser, makeup and sunscreen.
